HI, I'M VELA

I began selling my artwork at four, outside my mother’s tarot card store in Barcelona. Years of drawing led me to Tyler School of Art, where I earned my BFA and fell in love with design.

I went on to work as a graphic designer and art director, then formed Little Star Soup, where I created greeting cards and gifts for companies including Target, American Greetings, and Hallmark.

Today, I’m an artist and children’s librarian living near Philadelphia. My latest collection, Small Worlds, brings together ink, paper, collage, and scraps of fabric to explore memories, feelings, and imagined places.
